FAQs
How often do payments happen?
We pay out quarterly. Contributions are pooled across everyone supporting the same organisation and held until the combined total reaches $200. This keeps administration light so more value reaches mission. Your first quarter is always paid out in full, no matter the amount, to help get things started.
Does my organisation need to be a OneBuy member?
Yes. To receive payments, your chosen organisation needs to be a registered charity with the ACNC and a current OneBuy member. This keeps the benefit flowing to an accountable, verified organisation.
What if my organisation isn't a OneBuy member yet?
Let us know when you register and we’ll invite them to join. Once they’re a member, your contributions will start flowing to them. If they choose not to join, your contributions will instead support our Impact Partners.
What if I don't nominate an organisation?
That’s fine. Your contributions will automatically support our Impact Partners instead.
What are Impact Partners and how do I choose one?
Impact Partners are a small group of Christian charities OneBuy has selected to receive the Impact Partner Bucket. For our first 12-month round, there are three. See the current line-up on this page.
After you join, we’ll invite you separately to select one of them as your personal pick. It’s a short step separate from joining, so we can also use it each year to show you the impact from the year before and introduce the next line-up.
Does my contribution go directly to the Impact Partner I choose?
Not quite. Every unattributed contribution, from every member, is combined into one pool first. That pool is then divided between our three Impact Partners based on the proportion of members who chose each one.
Selecting an Impact Partner is like casting a vote for how the pool is shared, rather than sending your own contribution to them directly.
Do I have to select an Impact Partner, and can I change my mind later?
Selecting one isn’t compulsory. If you don’t, your contributions still go into the shared pool, they just won’t count as a vote toward how it’s divided.
You’ll get the chance to change your Impact Partner when the line-up renews every 12 months.
Do the Impact Partners ever change?
Yes. The line-up runs on a 12-month cycle — when it renews, we’ll report on the impact from the previous 12 months and invite members to choose again from the current round.
What happens if my organisation leaves OneBuy?
We’ll keep honouring payments to them for up to 12 months, giving them time to rejoin. You’re welcome to choose a different member organisation to support at any time. If your organisation hasn’t rejoined after 12 months, your contributions will move to support our Impact Partners.
Can I change which organisation I support?
You can, though we’d encourage you to think of it as an ongoing commitment rather than something to change often. If you do change, it only applies to contributions going forward. Anything already generated for your previous organisation stays with them.
Is there a limit to how much can be generated?
No cap. The more the better. Every qualifying purchase is tracked and shown clearly in your member portal.
Does this affect my own tax?
No. The contribution is a rebate OneBuy and our suppliers shareswith your chosen organisation, not a personal donation or gift from you, so it isn’t something you can claim as a tax deduction.
